Blogging was sooo much fun this year. I loved having my own blog that I could type what I wanted. Shaina can’t wait until she gets her blog. Thanks Mr.Hetherington.

Today on June 14th is the last day of school. I am now a 7th grader. I will like to thank all of my teachers this year for making it a fun year. They are Ms.VanOstrand, Mr.Hetherington, Mr Lawrence and Ms.Ekstorm. I am also a 6Ver and I will always be. I hope that MsVwill make a good sciance teacher,  I hope that  Ms.Ekstrom  will enjoy the last Harry Potter book, I hope that Mr.Hetherington will make a good math teacher and for Mr.Lawrence  to have a happy retirment with good health. I hope that he will come back next year. I also hope that the other teachers that are retiring will ahve good health. I congraduate the 8th graders. I can’t wait for Shaina to get into 6th grade so she can have the teachers that I had[most of them anyway].

Yu-Gi-Oh is a T.V. show that I watch. It was first a graphic noval series by Kazuki Takahashi which was later made into anime. It was originally made in Japan. What is interesting about the graphic novals is that instead of reading them from left to right, you read the graphic novals from right to left.  Here is the main plot to the story. The story is about a 10th grader named Yugi Mutou,who is a game expert and likes to play the card game duel monsters which is the trading card game we call Yu-Gi-Oh. One day Yugi  solves the Millennium Puzzle[a ancient Egyptian artifact passed down to him by his grandfather]. At that moment he is filled with ancient magic and his alter ego called Yami Yugi[or Pharaoh or Yu-Gi-Oh] the unbeatable king of games soul is ceated. By using the power of the Millennium Puzzle he can switch from Yami to Yugi. At first he called his alter ego “his other self” but then later starts calling him Yami. He later finds out that there are seven millenium items. Their names are: The Millennium Puzzle, The Millennium Ring, The Millennium Eye, The Millennium Key[the only item without the wajet eye], The Millennium Scales, The Millennium Rod and The Millennium Tauk[or Neclace]. But that is just the beginning. He also has some friends who cheer him on when he is dueling. Their names are Joey Wheeler[Katsuya Jonouchi in the manga who is also a duelist and was a bully yo Yugi at first], Téa Gardner[Anzu Mazaki in the manga,who we think has a cruch on Yami] and Tristan Taylor[ Hiroto Honda in the manga who was a bully with Joey]. Yugi has had to go on some life threatning adventers. I don’t want to spoil what happens but as Yugi and Yami get to know each-other they become good parners and talk to each-other with their minds.

At first I thought that this is a boy thing, but as I began to watch it more often I began to like it. My favorite character is Yugi/Yami Yugi because he is cool.  Now I collect the trading cards and have duels with Shaina. It’s very fun.

Today in L.A Mrs.Ekstrom had to talk to us about how the homework finish the Westing Game notebook and if you didn’t you would get a detention! She had to do this because 15 people were failing!! Anywayafter that we discused as a class what the connection between Sam Westing and Sandy was. That just about waps it up.

Even though it was special persons day on Friday we had classes. In Social Studies we went over the homework from the night before. Afterwards we watched the end of a movie. It was about the Ancient Myans. They lived Central America on the Yucatan Peninsula. They were great astronomers but they also belived that the king could talk to the gods so they sacreficing people so they could give their blood to the gods. They also build many great pyramids. They were a very interesting civilzation.

Today is my dad’s Birthday. So I want to say this” HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I want to wish my mom a VERY belated birthday.

While I was watching the Today show I heard that they had made a life size model of the Knight Bus that was in the 3rd Harry Potter book. It is visiting 37 libraries in the U.S.A. Last month I read a book called The Purloined Boy by Mortimus Clay. Here is a summery of what this wonderful book is about.

The story stars out in the land of Surbirbia where they kidnap kids and teach kids that a world with parents, Santa Clause and even home doesn’t exist. So one day a boy named Trevor starts daydreaming in class about being home but was interupted by the gardian[teacher] Media so then Trevor says”can I go home”? Well he gets in big time trouble. That night a slave named Epitetis tells him that he will be taken away but to  and is sent to the pantry where he learns that bogymen have kidnaped them so they can eat them! While crying in his cell a mouse named  Zephyr comes and helps him escape. He takes to Throthward where there is a magical tree called the Troth. I don’t want to spoil it for people who aren’t reading it but it is an awesome book that you won’t want to put down. To go to his website click here. Well tomorrow is the End-Of-Year test! In class since it was the last day to review we spent the entire period reviewing for the test. We reviewed all of our skills like angle puzzles, converting decimals to precents and so much more. I bet that I will do my hardest.

After a great season finalle this years American Idol is JORDIN SPARKS.

This season was a great season. Just wait till next season.

Today is my sister’s birthday. She turned 10 years old. Shaina and I are only 2 days and 5 years apart! For presents she got mostly Pokemon stuff. Her favorite pokemon is Pikachu. She also received alot of other cool things. So this is what I have to say:

Tonight is the season finale of American Idol. This has been an interesting season with  Sanjaya and all. But it comes down to this who will win. Will it be the beat-boxing Blake or the stylish Jordin? I hope that Blake wins but many people think that it’s going to be Jordin. Who are you rooting for? We find out tonight.

On Friday May 18 I turned 12! In the morning I got some presents like a Gamecube game, a plastic time turner and a couple other things. At lunch time I ate with Ms.V and when I came into the classroom they surprised me by turning out the lights and saying “surprise”. That night I went bowling with Shaina’s Girl Scout troop. I was supposed to go to camporre for Girl Scouts and sleep there but it was too cold and it was raining so we went the next day. Anyway I had a really fun day.

Today in S.S. we had a map quiz on all of Asia! At first it seemed hard, but if you studied hard you would probably do ok on it. After that when you were done we read our silent reading book. Now after everyone was done we started to look at Japan. I learned that Japan is made up of many islands so Japan is an archipelago. The four main and largest islands are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. This country is also located on the ring of fire or an area where earthquakes happen often. That is about all we got to today but tomorrow is another day.

Today in math class, actually not much happened today. We mostly reviewed for tomorrows quiz on adding and subtracting negative numbers. But first we did a homework check for the night before. Then we did a couple warm-up problems. One of them was 4 to the 4 power. After a couple of those we did study link 6.3 which was all on adding and subtracting negative numbers. The homework was to study foe tomorrows quiz and finish study link 6.3. It was a somewhat easy class, but I need to work on these kinds of problems.

If you haven’t heard the news or you just don’t watch the show American Idol here is some good news for people who don’t like Sanjaya. On the April 18 or the last results show LaKisha, Blake and Sanjya were in the bottom three. But Sanjaya Malicar didn’t get enough votes to stay in! Now six contests remain. Who will get voted off next? Who will become the next American Idol? Well we know that it will not be Sanjaya.

When the nor’eastern storm hit us on Sunday lots of people lost power including me. My dad had to go on storm duty for most of that night. In the morning we still didn’t have power and my dad got frustrated. My sister and I played “Clue” and after we finished the game the power came back on.

The problem was that many people had no power still so my dad had to do more storm duty. We were planing on going to Washington D.C. with my grandparents, but their basement got flooded and we had to postpone our trip until June. On the other hand I got to see my cousins because we went to New Jersey to help my grandparents. Unfortunately we had to clean their basement which kinda smelled and was very dusty.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is a video game that my sister and I play. Click here to see the intro for this game. What you do is battle each-other with Nintendo’s All-Stars characters . Here is a list of the characters you can be.

My favorite character is Kirby and my sister’s is Pikachu. Some of these characters are hidden and need to be unlocked. They are: Falco, Roy, Marth, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Mr.Game&Watch, Pichu, Young Link, Luigi, Dr.Mario, and Ganondorf. Each character has their own special moves that they use to send their opponent out of the fighting field. There are also many stages that you can fight in.

 This is the stages in which you can battle in. Some stages have to be unlocked. There are even some stages I haven’t unlocked yet. My favorite stage is the fountain of dreams stage and my sister’s favorite stage is the Poke Floats stage.

 This is a battle scene with Peach,Donkey Kong, Ice Clinbers and Kirby battling. The percentage signs tells how much damage a player has, but if your percentage gets too high the player would get hit and would go flying out of the ring.

There are also trophies you can collect that are of the characters and other objects and even places.

Today in social studies we kept going on our studies on China. First we went over our homework. It was to choose our favorite Confucius quotes. My favorite quotes were “respect yourself and others will respect you” “Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it” “Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart”. We talked about what they meant and how it applies to every day life. After that discussion Mr.Hetherington taught us a way how to remember what inventions the Chinese made. They were compass, silk, clock, gunpowder, fireworks, paper and ink. We remember them by a story that he told us. Here is the story: One day Nichole was lost in the woods so she took out her compass and it was made out of silk. After she found where north was she flipped it over and looked at her clock, but when she opened it gun powder came out and went into her eyes. Then all of a sudden fireworks came out of her eyes and the smoke-streams turned into books. Then paper fell out of the books and one of the pieces cut Nichole in the arm. Insted of blood ink came out. Luckely she found a town and had tea with a nice family. That is how we remember the invetions that China made. We also learned a story for remembering the main dynasties of China. Here is the name of the dynasties: Qin, Han, Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qhing. That is what we did that class.

After getting back from vacation it was hard to start up, but when we were settled we started working with compass. The kind of compass i’m talking about is one that architects and graphic artists use. We use them to make circles and even to copy a line segment. Let me explain how to use on. A compass has on sharp point and a pencil. What you do is put the sharp point on the paper and make sure that it does not move. Then you turn the compass so the pencil part is moving not the sharp point and make a circle. You can also turn the paper around so you make a circle. I prefer tyning the paper[leave me a commet telling me how you make a circle with a compass]. So after we read a page in our student reference book about how to use it we exparemented with the compass. We made good and some of us made concentric circles[they look like a bulsie or circles that have the same center].  After that we did a journal page in which we had to copy a line segment only using a compass. Then we read until the class was over. It was a fun class.

On 4/2/07 I went to my Bubby and Zedy’s house for a Jewish holiday called Passover. At Passover we remember when Moses asked the Pharaoh[Ramses II] to release the Jews, but Ramses II said no. So God put ten plagues upon Egypt and they were that the river turned to blood, frogs covered the land, lice came, flies came, all cattle died, boils upon every man, hail fell, locust came, darkness covered the land for three days and finally every first born was killed. But the Lord spared the Jewish childern by having them put lambs blood above their doors so God would pass over them. Finally the Pharaoh let the Jews go. That is how the first  Passover happend. We eat Matzah which is unraised bread. We eat it because when the Jews were leaving Egypt they didn’t have time to raise their bread so they made Matzah. What my Zedy does is hide some Matzah under a pillow and we had to try and grab it while he isn’t watching.  We also said some prayers in Hebrew and sang “dayanu”. Later I played with my cousin Tyler and talked to my Aunts and Uncles. I was so much fun.

My sister and I tired to prank each-other. It was fun until we didn’t believe each-others pranks like “there is a spider on your back”. Shaina didn’t believe it. But what we also did was stick a sticker of a crack on my dad’s car so that it looks like the window was broken! When he saw it he actually thought that it was cracked and he said”oh nooo when did that happen”. But then my sister blew on the sticker and it came off. It was so funny. I had a lot of fun.

The next Harry Potter movie called “Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix” comes out July 13th 2007.Click here to go to Warner Brother’s page on Harry Potter so you can see the trailer for the movie. I really can’t wait to see it in theaters.

This is the first time He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named[Voldemort] has appeared on the cover of the series. Snape…FRIEND OR FOE,CAN WE TRUST HIM? I think he is a foe, but he might come through for Harry at the end.  IS HARRY GOING TO BE KILLED? I think that he might sacrifice himself for Ron or Herminone or he will kill Voldemort or Voldemort will get them all. I don’t want to admit that Harry will get killed but I’ve heared rumors that J.K.Rowling might kill Harry so that no one can continue the series! Leave me a comment telling me about what you think of Snape and if Harry gets killed and why.  I can’t wait to read it.

After school on 3/16/07 Sarah came home with me and we took measurments about how deep the snow was. We measured with a measuring tape and a stick.

At 1:00p.m. it was 4in. deep!

At 3:50p.m. it was 5in. deep!!

At 4:50p.m. it was 6.5in. deep!!! 

 Sarah and I sent the first 3 measurments into Scot Haney.

Today during math class we did mostly reviews on fractions for the test tomorrow. Actually we did a self assessment sheet that we do to see what we need to improve on and what we do good at. Then we did some warm-ups. Here is one of then: write 14 over 35 in simplest form. The answer would be 2 over 5[the greatest common factor is 7]. After that we did a word problem sheet and they were easy. Here is one of them: the Urbens had three-fourth gallon of milk. One-half of this was used for dinner. How much milk was used for dinner? The answer would be 3 over 8[you just multiply 1 over 2 and 3 over 4 to get 3 over 8. Afterwords we did p.205 and #4-18. They were just multiplying fractions problems. It was a easy review math class.
