Scribe Post For Math Class 3/14/07

March 14, 2007

Today during math class we did mostly reviews on fractions for the test tomorrow. Actually we did a self assessment sheet that we do to see what we need to improve on and what we do good at. Then we did some warm-ups. Here is one of then: write 14 over 35 in simplest form. The answer would be 2 over 5[the greatest common factor is 7]. After that we did a word problem sheet and they were easy. Here is one of them: the Urbens had three-fourth gallon of milk. One-half of this was used for dinner. How much milk was used for dinner? The answer would be 3 over 8[you just multiply 1 over 2 and 3 over 4 to get 3 over 8. Afterwords we did p.205 and #4-18. They were just multiplying fractions problems. It was a easy review math class.

What is the product of this problem? Leave me a commet telling me the answer.

My Cousins

March 4, 2007

On Febuary break my family and I went to my cousins house in Starucca, Pennsylvania. They live in a town that is very small, but on the other hand their house is beautiful. They also have a pond that we swim in during the summer and a giant sleding hill that we slide on in the winter. Every year we go up there and we call this time the winterfest. I have four cousins and their names are Harrison, Caitlin, Natale and Jessica. I also have a Aunt Mary and a Uncle Matt. They have four dogs and their names are Molly[pug], Meg[cairn terrier], Kayla[dauschaund] and Margo[french bulldog]. If Meg got face to face with my dog Nicky, Meg would try to hurt Nicky and Nicky would hide under a chair! They kept all of the dogs (except Nicky) in the kitchen. When we were up there we had a blast sleding. I went on a sled with Natale and we flew off a jump and she landed on top of me! Then later Shaina, Harris, Caitlin, Natale, Mesha[their friend], Jessie, and I hooked our sleds together and made a train. The first run was sucessful but the other run wasn’t. Harris was the connector for the two sleds and he let go of the first sled with Jessie on it and the rest of us ran over Harris and made a giant dent in the run! Then Molly and Margo came running down the track to meet us as they always did. At the end of the day we all made it down to the pond[ the ice on it was 5 inches thick] and began the very long hike up the hill. On the day we had to leave we had a giant snowball fight, but Molly just ate the snowballs. While we were up there we saw some Charlie Chaplin slient films with a organ doing the music and then went to the Chinese Buffet and ate alot. while we were there we would also play card games and the computer game “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiago”. We even watched the Patrick for President marathon! I can’t wait to see them again.

A Total Lunar Eclipse

March 4, 2007

On the way to the Celtic Woman Concert we saw a total lunar eclipse. Just before we got there it was covered up and when we got there it was starting to uncover. When we left it was just a full moon. It was very cool.

Celtic Woman A New Journey Concert

March 4, 2007

On Saturday 3/3/07 my family and I went to see the Celtic Woman live concert. It was in Wallingford at the Chevrolet Theater. There were about 1,500 people there. We sat in row TT and used binoculars to see their faces better. It as distracting that people kept getting up and their heads were in the way and people behind us were talking . Luckily there were T.V.’s so you could see their faces up close. Anyway, Celtic Woman is a group of 6 women who perform with other additional backround singers and lots of instrumentalists. Their names are Chloe[vocalist] age 17!, Hayley[vocalist], Lisa[vocalist], Malread[fiddle player], Meav[vocalist] and Orla[volcalist and harp player]. But for some reason Hayley wasn’t at our show. But they still preformed great. They all wore the most beautiful dresses and sang beautifully. As for Mairead she played some very fast songs on her fiddle and she jumps around and dances whille she plays. Some of the songs they sang were: The Sky,The Dawn,The Sun, Danny Boy, Scarborough Fair, Over The Rainbow, The Last Rose Of Summer, The Voice, Sing Out, You Raise Me Up and many others. At the end of each song they got a big round of applause and at the end a standing ovation! At the end we bought a program that told a bit about each person. I will remember that night for the rest of my life.

Scirbe post for 3/1/07 for Sciance

March 4, 2007

On Thurs. we had a sub named Mrs.Mann. We talked about some words that have to do with the Respirtory System like circulatory and nutrians. We also talked about what the Respiratory sysyem helps us do. Well it helps us breath so we can get oxygen to our cells and organs. Then she had us do pg.1 and 2. Here are some facts from that page. We can survive a week without food, a few days without drinking, but we can only last a few minutes without breathing. That’s because we need a freash supply of oxygen all the time. The respirtory system does 2 jobs. One is that it provides oxygen for our body. The second job is that it removes gaseous wastes from our body. Afterword, if we finished thoes pages she had us do a crossword puzzle. That is what we did that day.

The Mistmantle Chronicals

March 2, 2007

These books by M.I. McALLISTER are very exiting, fun-filled and very cute. Even though there are only 2 books in the series[so far] they are wonderful books about otters, red squirrels, hedgehogs and moles living together on the island of Mismantle[which is protected by enchanted mists] .

The first book called The Mistmantle Chronicles Urchin Of The Riding Stars starts off on the island of Mismantle when a mother squirrel is giving birth on a night of the Riding Stars. But she soon dies afterword and the baby is found by a squirrel named Captain Crispin. He notices that the baby is paler than other squirrels. He gives it to another squirrel named Apple to take care of him. They name it Urchin of the Riding Stars. As he grows up he becomes a page to Captain Crispin, but afterword something terrible happens. The hedgehog prince, King Brushen and Queen Spindle’s son, is murdered and it appears that Crispin did it! So he is exiled[or banished from the island]. Now Urchin becomes a page to Captain Padra, who is an otter. Meanwhile Captain Husk is up to no good. Will Urchin find a way to get Crispin back? Read to find out. Now in The Mistmantle Chronicles Book Two Urchin And The Heartstone is about Urchin finding out about his past and about a prophecy that was mentioned in book one. I won’t give away all of the details, but all I can say is that these books are for people who love animals and adventure.
